Mason & Hanger provided full discipline architectural and engineering design services for a Design/Build RFP to provide Anniston Army Depot with a new facility for the rebuilding of powertrain transmissions and components. The facility performs functions such as receiving, disassembling, cleaning and refurbishing of parts, parts machining and welding, parts storage, assembly of transmissions, transmission testing, painting and final transmission packaging.
Mason & Hanger prepared 100% design for the industrial process and equipment. The factory area was designed to house the equipment to rebuild several different types of transmissions. The factory floor layout of over 100 production workstations were designed for flexibility, efficiency and based on LEAN manufacturing principle. Overhead cranes with 20' hook height were provided throughout the facility where needed. The administrative area contains display lobby, large administrative work area with 19 workstations, seven private offices, conference room, smaller administrative toilets, larger toilets with showers and lockers, and a large fully functional break room.
