Mason & Hanger served as the engineering design team for the Logistics University at Fort Lee, VA. The facilities include education and simulation buildings totaling 397,000 square feet. The simulation building provides joint maneuver sustainment training with online interactive simulations in war gaming, and a globally-accessible center supporting live, virtual exercises. The education building includes the logistics leadership college, captains' career training, intermediate-level education program, and NCO academy. The design was required to incorporate sustainable design criteria to achieve LEED Silver certification. Features of sustainable design strategies include light pollution reduction, enhanced commissioning of building energy systems, and optimization of energy performance, the buildings incorporate sustainable design criteria to achieve LEED Silver certification. The project design was completed within a compressed schedule of four months.
