Mason & Hanger provided complete engineering design services for an MEP plant addition to replace the existing central plant of this Enterprise Computing Center. This project was awarded through the General Services Administration’s Design Excellence Program.

The Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The project included phased relocation of the existing mechanical plant equipment to the addition, and replacement of the majority of the existing electrical plant equipment without interruptions or significant reductions of operational redundancy to existing operations.

New equipment was installed as required to maintain the specified level of redundancy during construction and effectively integrated to significantly improve system performance and reliability. Total system capacity is approximately 4,000 tons with multiple chillers for redundancy on mission-critical loads. The new system offers a high level of energy efficiency resulting in a significant reduction in annual operating costs.
