The team specializes in supporting mission-driven design for the U.S. Government. Mason & Hanger, a Day & Zimmermann Company, announce the creation of Security Design Services Group, a dedicated team in this area of expertise. As a provider of innovative design, architecture and engineering solutions, Mason & Hanger will focus on accelerating security design services for a variety of mission-driven building types in support of National Security for the U.S. Government. Today, many of the Company’s projects involve design for high-level military facilities and embassies worldwide.
The services and expertise within this group will encompass blast design and mitigation, holistic security design, mitigation for other threats, security consulting and assessment, and special facilities and range design.
“Ensuring the safety of U.S. Government personnel, infrastructure, assets, and data is vital to our work and mission. We have been protecting people within specialized facilities for decades. Our teams understand the implications of design decisions that are critical to the U.S. government national security mission,” said Mason & Hanger President Mick McAreavy. “This is an extension of what we already do every day, as we deliver upon our mission of building a more secure world,” McAreavy adds.
The Security Design team is led by Chris Lowe, PE. During Lowe’s time at Mason & Hanger, he has been instrumental in the development of over 50 range and training complexes for the Army, Army Reserve, Air Reserve, National Guard, Department of State, and Special Forces.
“Our teams have tackled issues in extremely high-threat environments, sometimes at a moment’s notice. Our expertise allow us to provide holistic and integrated security solutions that set us apart from others. In fact, some of our company’s first projects include the design of detonation towers for the Atomic Energy Commission's Nevada test site and the Saturn V propellant rocket motor testing silos,” adds Lowe.
