Mason & Hanger Recognized as One of ENR’s Top 225 International Design Firms and Top 500 Government Offices

Mason & Hanger, as a Day & Zimmermann Company, is proud to be recognized as one of 2022’s Top 225 International Design Firms according to Engineering News-Record (ENR). ENR’s Top 225 International Design Firms list, published annually, ranks the 225 largest world designs firms, both publicly and privately held, based on design-specific export revenue generated from projects outside each firm's respective home country.

This year’s report, titled War Fuels Global Priority Shifts, reveals a market hesitant to take on project risks due to rising construction costs, lasting impacts of COVID-19 and an unsteady supply chain. Top 225 firm's priorities, and the priorities of their clients, have shifted as the global climate crisis, market inflation and war instigated by Russia with Ukraine have accelerated work in some sectors and disrupted work in others.

However, despite the hesitancy, the percentage of design firms reporting a profit increased markedly from 89.4% to 96.7%. Driving this growth is an abundance of big ticket federal infrastructure spending plans meant to bolster economic recovery from the pandemic and push countries toward a more climate resilient and sustainable future.

Mason & Hanger also ranked #23 in General Building for Government Offices by ENR in its 2022 list of Top 500 Design Firms.

“Mason & Hanger is pleased to consistently rank among ENR's Top Design Firms, providing best-in-class architecture and engineering services to the federal government worldwide,” said Ben Lilly, President of Mason & Hanger. “Our mission of Building a More Secure World, is fulfilled as we provide innovative solutions for difficult and complex design challenges to support the U.S. Government with their mission-driven facilities.”

For the sixth consecutive year, total revenue for the Top 500-listed firms increased by 2.2% to tally $107.11 billion in 2021. The median firm revenue has also rebounded after a dip last year, rising 3.8%, to $67.45 million.
