Mason & Hanger Celebrates Eagle Award with Messer Construction Co. at 2025 Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas (ABCC) Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards Gala

On November 6, 2025, Mason & Hanger was honored to attend the Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas (ABCC) Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards Gala in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event celebrates people and projects that exemplify safety, innovation, and craftsmanship across the Carolinas.

M&H PhotoMesser Construction Co. received an Eagle Award in the Other/Specialty $25M–$50M category for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Fort Bragg Special Operations Forces (SOF) Group Headquarters project. Mason & Hanger is proud to have served as the Architect-Engineer (A/E) designer for this award-winning project.

Messer invited Jonathan Fisher, Senior Project Manager, and Michelle Barnett, Team Manager, Senior Architect, to attend the gala and join them in accepting the award, along with representatives from the contractor, designer, and client teams.

The 96,000-square-foot, two-story headquarters supports the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Forces with mission-critical spaces, including offices, conference rooms, classrooms, secure areas, a logistics and network operations center, and an arms room vault. Extensive site development—including utilities, lighting, landscaping, parking, access roads, and sidewalks—ensures a resilient and highly functional environment that strengthens the SOF mission.

“Design for the headquarters began in 2018, and more than 100 Mason & Hanger employees contributed to the project’s success,” said Fisher. “The team’s success highlights its exceptional communication, attention to detail, and collaboration with the contractor.”

We want to share a special thank you to the project’s design leads: Michelle Barnett, Mike Melville, Warren Foy, Tyler Mize, Rob Grubbs, Emily Redmon, Grant Page, Ben Oisten, Mike Mayer, Justin Wheeler, and Jared Fannin.

“We were proud to share in the recognition, standing alongside valued partners and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in celebrating a project that exemplifies teamwork, technical excellence, and mission-driven design,” said Ben Lilly, President of Mason & Hanger. “It’s a testament to the outstanding quality and dedication our teams bring to every project we design.”
