Deputy Director of Architecture
"I love the diversity of our projects and the unique challenges that each one brings. I'm honored to work with the people at Mason & Hanger and it is a privilege to design better facilities for the soldiers who risk their lives for our country."
I came to Mason & Hanger in 1998 and eventually became their first female Architect. I worked for several years before I was promoted to Associate Director of Architecture in March of 2013. I managed the architecture department and was then later selected for the position of Deputy Director of Architecture as the company expanded.
As Deputy Director of Architecture, there are two main facets to my job: working with the Director of Architecture to manage the entire department across all locations, and daily immersive management of the Architecture and Interior Design staff in Lexington. I continue to be the Architect of Record on some projects, as I am available, and often participate in interviews for new contracts. I am passionate about mentoring and sharing knowledge with staff.
I love that fact that Mason & Hanger values diversity of thought and design, and that each Architect can express their own design ideas to best serve the needs of our clients. It is very humbling and honorable to design better facilities for our soldiers who risk their lives for our country. When I first accepted a position at Mason & Hanger over 20 years ago, I didn't know what type of work the company did, but I accepted the offer because I liked the people who worked here and the sense of family. All of these factors have contributed to my longevity at Mason & Hanger.
Over the past 25 years, I have seen a huge change in technology and how architects can express their visions more succinctly than they could in the days of hand drafting. We can now easily convey our visions in 3D using a variety of software platforms.
Our designs help optimize and facilitate better training for our soldiers and create better work environments for our other clients. Helping them do their jobs better has a direct connection to our mission statement of "Building a More Secure World." The work I do as the Deputy Director of Architecture also helps our architects and interior designers do their best work for our clients. The dedication that we have to exceeding our clients' expectations is what keeps them coming back to us for their most challenging projects.
