The new Armed Forces Reserve Center supports 600 permanent National Guard, USAR reservists, and full time support personnel. Additional military and civilian personnel can be accommodated on a visiting basis. The 122,491 SF training building provides sufficient administrative areas, educational spaces, storage spaces, building operations and support spaces.
The building was designed around a central triangular lobby with three wings (Army National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve, and Joint Use). The separate wings allow each user to have their own identity and space. The focal point of the lobby is a triangular skylight that is directly above the center point. This creates a large open volume that enhances the space and provides daylighting. Directly off the lobby is a grand stair that leads to the second floor. The center of the stair connects to a corridor that leads directly to the Assembly Hall, Kitchen, and Unit Storage areas.
