Our People

Meet Jared...

Vice President Operations, Mason & Hanger

"I can honestly say that what I love most about my job is the people I get to work with at Mason & Hanger. I get to work around a lot of very smart and engaged professionals every day who are excited about the type of work we do and the projects we work on."

How did you end up in your current position?

Jared Jamison Portrait I started at Mason & Hanger as a structural engineer but always had a curiosity and interest in business management. I let the leaders of the company at the time know this and volunteered for every opportunity I could to become more involved in the business. The company supported my efforts to gain my MBA on nights and weekends while I continued to work, while also continuing to present me with new challenges and opportunities. I never said “no” to one of these opportunities or turned down a chance to learn more about our business. I believe that willingness to always accept a challenge led me to my current position.

What do you love most about your job?

It may sound like a cliché, but I can honestly say that what I love most about my job is the people I get to work with at Mason & Hanger. I get to work around a lot of very smart and engaged professionals every day who are excited about the type of work we do and the projects we work on. I love being able to help create an environment where our people can be successful in meeting our clients’ needs and in furthering their careers.

You never know what you are going to be challenged with on a day-to-day basis, but you are guaranteed the opportunity to make a difference at Mason & Hanger in building a more secure world.

What has changed about your industry over the course of your career?

It has been great to see how advances in knowledge and technology has compounded over the course of my career. The fields of architecture and engineering continue to advance every day as our profession learns more through research and experience. One small example of this is how some building code books are now twice as thick as they were only 20 years ago when I started my career. The technology of design continues to evolve as well, from analysis software to Building Information Modeling and Virtual Reality. It is really exciting to be a part of this profession.
