BIM/CIM

Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Civil Information Modeling (CIM)

Mason & Hanger was an early adapter of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Civil Information Modeling (CIM) and we continue to invest in further developing this expertise as the technology progresses.

This has provided us with unique opportunities to work with our clients to define how they can better gain value from BIM/CIM technologies. For example, as a founding member of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)/Industry BIM and CIM Consortia (UIBCC) established in 2006, Mason & Hanger is an important contributor to the organization responsible for advanced modeling (BIM, CIM, GIS, and CAD technologies) requirements on USACE Projects per USACE Engineering and Construction Bulleting (ECB) 2016-3.

BIM

BIM’s power comes from the information in the model and the management of that information throughout the life of the building, site, and infrastructure. At Mason & Hanger, we understand what that means in terms of facility data, so we make sure our data files meet owner requirements and expectations. Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) reports are often part of our project deliverables, so we know the role that this data plays in supporting that effort.

BIM Tools:

We utilize an array of BIM/CIM tools, including Autodesk Revit, Civil 3D and AutoCAD-based software for architectural and MEP design; Bentley BIM, GEOPAK, InRoads, and Microstation software; Autodesk Navisworks Manage and Bentley Navigator for clash detection, project visualization and construction studies.

CIM

CIM is about the information in the model and the management of that information throughout the life of the site and infrastructure. At Mason & Hanger there is an understanding of what that means in terms of infrastructure data, so we are working to make sure we meet owner expectation at the level of detail for which we are contracted.

CIM Tools:

For Civil Information Modeling (CIM), we utilize an array of CIM products from Autodesk and Bentley. Civil 3D and AutoCAD-based software are used in our civil engineering design. In addition, Autodesk Navisworks Manage is used for clash detection, project visualization and construction studies. GEOPAK, InRoads, and MicroStation are also used for civil engineering design. Likewise, Bentley Navigator is used for clash detection, project visualization and construction studies.
